Are you planning to skip meals? Think twice.

Assalamualaikum and Good Day,

I just wanted to share something good to read and good to digest. It's from my Facebook:

Your Body’s Reaction
According to “Canadian Living,” your metabolism is like a fire. When you eat, you are throwing wood on the fire to be burned. If you do not add enough wood to the fire, it will burn down and fail to give off enough heat or light. Your metabolism reacts a little differently: it slows down. As a result, your body has less blood sugar for energy. According to Time Health online, this causes your body to go into “starvation mode,” in which more fat is stored and your metabolism continues to burn less blood sugar to ensure that your body can keep its essential functions going.

The Affect of Two Meals
The traditional regimen that keeps your fire burning and your metabolism steady is based on having three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you skip breakfast, your metabolism goes into fat-saving mode because you burned your calories overnight while sleeping. Skipping lunch means you don’t have enough energy to get through the day, while skipping dinner means your body may not have enough calories to perform its nightly functions. You can spread what you eat across several meals a day as a means to keep your energy levels and metabolism as steady as possible.

Gaining and Losing Weight
Your metabolism is an example of how your body strives for balance. When you don’t eat enough or often enough to give your body sufficient calories, it slows. When you eat more calories than you need, your metabolism signals your body to store away fat, which makes you gain weight. A slower metabolism may mean you don’t burn as many calories, but gaining or losing weight has more to do with how many calories you consume. This means that if you eat two meals a day as a way to lose weight, your body may try to hold on to fat you have stored. Also, if those two meals are very high in calories, you can still gain weight.

So, lads, think twice. Act wise. Take care of your health. Thanks for you time. :)
